Victims’ Survey 2026 Now Open

Make your voice heard: complete this survey to improve the justice system for future victims

The Victim’s Commissioner, Claire Waxman, has launched the 2026 Victims’ Survey - the only independent, national survey capturing victims’ experiences across all crime types and stages of the justice process.

Running from 8 April to 6 May 2026, the survey is open to anyone aged 16+ who has experienced or reported a crime since January 2021.

It takes about 15 minutes, is anonymous, and can be completed online, by phone, or on paper.

Why this matters

This is one of the clearest routes for lived experience to directly inform how the system is understood - and how it changes.

The insights gathered will shape recommendations on:

  • support for victims

  • access to rights

  • how the justice system is experienced in practice

Importantly, the survey is also seeking to better capture the experiences of those who did not report to the police or engage with the system - voices that are often missing from formal data.

Take part

If you have experienced crime - whether you reported it or not - your perspective matters here.

A note from MYH

So much of what shapes the justice system happens at a distance from those living through it. This is an opportunity to shift that -  even in a small but meaningful way. If you have the capacity, consider taking part or sharing it with others who may want to.

P.S.

The Victims' Commissioner is open to creative ideas to help promote the survey - if something comes to mind, you can reach them at victims.commissioner@victimscommissioner.org.uk.

What’s shared here doesn’t disappear - it builds the case for what must change.
