A Space To Be Heard
Looking back on the launch of Making Yourself Heard - and ahead to what’s next
By Jade Blue
Making Yourself Heard began with a simple recognition: too many voices are spoken about, and too few are truly listened to.
Not as a campaign.
Not as a statement.
But as a space.
A space where lived experience sits at the centre - not as evidence, not as a footnote, but as truth. We didn’t launch MYH with answers. We launched it with an intention: to listen carefully, to platform responsibly, and to move at the pace that safety and dignity require.
In just over four months since launching, people have trusted us with stories that carry weight. Some anonymously. Some publicly. All bravely. Stories of survival, of being unheard, of systems that close doors too early - and of the harm that lingers long after decisions are made.
Alongside this, 2025 saw the launch of the Right to Be Reviewed campaign and renewed focus on the CPS Victims’ Right to Review. A reminder that justice is not just about outcomes, but about process - about whether someone is heard before a case is closed, not after the damage is done.
Right to Be Reviewed is the first MYH campaign - but it certainly will not be the last. The issues survivors face do not exist in isolation, and neither can the work to address them.
What became clear this year is this: survivors do not need more commentary. They need space, time, and systems that take them seriously.
So what’s next?
In the year ahead, MYH will continue to do what it set out to do - but with deeper roots and clearer intent. We will keep platforming lived experience. We will keep pushing for the VRR pilot to become permanent. We will continue to hold space for reflection, creativity, and collective change through our journal, art, music, and storytelling.
Most importantly, we will keep listening.
If you have engaged with the justice system and feel able to reflect, MYH is here for you. There is no pressure to be public. No requirement to be named. Only an invitation to make yourself heard - if and when you’re ready.
2025 was the year we began. What comes next will be shaped by many voices.
